Unscripted Podcast No. 11: Are Affordable Swiss Watches Dead?

are affordable Swiss watches dead?

In today’s episode of Watch Chronicler Podcast, I explore whether affordable Swiss watches are going to cease to exist. After an article on Time and Tide Watches, this podcast considers the facts, figures and changes which may direct the future of watches in Switzerland.

The industry for affordable Swiss watches has suffered a difficult time in recent years. • Hi Armand,

I’m also curious what the age demographic of watches look like as well – I sometimes wonder if the industry is not suffering from the Harley Davidson problem. So many products are vintage or heritage-inspired, harkening back to the golden age of mechanical watches and their association with flight, motorsport, et cetera. These aren’t generally things the younger generation is as interested in (at least compared to dinosaurs like myself). The few appeals to youth culture, like Hamilton running a promotion with a professional Street Fighter player, seem more like stabs in the dark than any coherent strategy.

Also, as a side note, maybe you could post the link to the sponsor of the podcast on this site as well? I was able to find it via YT, but that seems like another step.
